How to create certificates from an AI assistant (MCP)
On Academy and Institute, you can connect the Certinator MCP to an AI assistant that supports MCP and create certificates by asking.
Before you start
An Academy or Institute plan and an assistant that supports MCP servers.
Steps
- Open /developers and follow the MCP setup. The server address is https://certinator.com/mcp.
- Create a scoped API key in Certinator and add it to your assistant's MCP settings as a Bearer token. That's the only step to connect. Keep keys private.
- Ask your assistant to create certificates, for example "Make completion certificates for these 5 people with my Course template."
- Review the results before you share or send anything.
What to keep in mind
The MCP has the same plan limits as the API (Academy and up) and uses the same API credits, and 1 credit makes 1 certificate (1,000 a month on Academy, 5,000 on Institute). Generating a certificate doesn't publish a verify page unless you issue it.
